The Oceanário de Lisboa is a space where personal enrichment can take place for all those who wish to donate some of their time to causes they feel are significant. The Oceanário allows volunteers to communicate with different types of audiences, while being surrounded with the marine environment, the oceans and all things natural.
The Oceanário's volunteer program is an excellent opportunity to both learn new interesting things and share them with visitors and all those seeking more knowledge about the oceans.
Volunteers occupy a very special niche within the Oceanário's Mission goal, as they assist promoting knowledge of the Oceans, educating visitors and the public about the necessity of protecting Natural Resources, through changing their daily habits.
Role of Volunteers
All those who enjoy close contact with the general public and learning cool new things about the conservation of nature are welcomed to become Oceanário volunteers. Volunteers are encouraged to drive important conservation messages to the thousands of patrons that walk through the Oceanário's exhibits every year.
Volunteers are asked to donate 3 hours per day, 2 times per week.

Every day.
Training sessions
Two major recruiting moments take place each year, in January and June. Four training sessions then follow, including the construction, history, mission and activities available at the Oceanário. Training also includes five sessions on specific themes, such as sharks, mammals, corals, polar regions and the North Atlantic ocean. The generic sessions are held during the first month and the specific sessions during the five months after.
Volunteers are encouraged to participate in all training sessions.
