Name: Striped scat, spotbanded scat, butterfish
Scientific Name: Scatophagus multifasciatus Richardson, 1846
Family: Scatophagidae
Group: Bony fish
Class: Fish

Size: 11-25 cm.

The striped scats are typical fish of the mangroves. While they are young, they prefer fresh water and during summer months they even go into the upper part of the rivers.
