The striped scats are typical fish of the mangroves. While they are young, they prefer fresh water and during summer months they even go into the upper part of the rivers. Once they reach adulthood, they take on an intense silvery colouring with very well defined black stripes. They then move to brackish waters and the lower sections of the rivers.They feed on small invertebrates and matter.
