Name: Zebra moray
Scientific Name: Gymnomuraena zebra (Shaw, 1797)
Family: Muraenidae
Group: Bony fish
Class: Fish
Size: 101-200 cm.
This moray owes its name to the beautiful pattern of yellow and black stripes that covers its body. It is a timid and harmless fish, which lives in cracks and overhangs of reefs at depths up to 20 m. Here, it feeds at night and surprises its prey (crabs and molluscs) with fast and effective attacks. It also eats sea urchins, crushing their shells with their strong teeth.
