Name: Blue-banded goby
Scientific Name: Lythrypnus dalli (Gilbert, 1890)
Family: Gobiidae
Group: Bony fish
Class: Fish
Size: 0-10 cm.
The blue-banded goby is a territorial fish that lives in rocks where it remains anchored, thanks to the adhesive dish on its stomach. When it feels threatened, it conceals itself in a hiding place, located nearby, or among the spines of urchins. During mating, the male approaches several times, exhibiting the dorsal fin completely distended. He urges the female to deposit her eggs in cracks or in empty shells. Until hatching, the eggs are carefully guarded by the powerful male.
