Name: Azores chromis
Scientific Name: Chromis limbata (Valenciennes, 1833)
Family: Pomacentridae
Group: Bony fish
Class: Fish
Size: 0-10 cm.
This species occurs in the tidal zone, on rocky bottoms of the archipelagos of the Azores and Madeira. Just like all chromis, it has a small mouth that protrudes slightly, which is furnished with flexible teeth. The eggs are deposited on a rock and guarded by the male, which defends the territory against intruders. During this period, the male turns a violet colour.
