Size: 26-50 cm.
Swallowtail seaperch begin life as females and eventually become males. These are easily distinguished by their well-developed pelvic fins with yellow markings, which turn red during the breeding season. During the day, they stay hidden in the holes and cracks of rocks. They come out at night only to search for food. Although they are found at depths of up to 200 m, they are more commonly found between 20 and 50 m.
