Name: Longnose butterfly fish
Scientific Name: Forcipiger flavissimus (Jordan & McGregor, 1898)
Family: Chaetodontidae
Group: Bony fish
Class: Fish
Size: 11-25 cm.
This fish lives in the peripheral area of coral reefs at depths up to about 100 m, but occasionally enters interior lagoons. It forms small groups, which can have up to 5 individuals. However, it is frequently found in pairs, next to caves and rocky shelves. These pairs are territorial in relation to the restricted space in which they spend most of their time. Here, they feed during the day and rest at night on rocks.
