The saddleback hogfish is a solitary fish that lives in lagoons and transparent waters or in exposed areas of the reef, on rocky bottoms. It feeds on invertebrates with tough external skeletons, which it crushes with its strong pharyngeal teeth. It can grow to weigh as much as 7 kg!
