Name: Lyretail hogfish
Scientific Name: Bodianus anthioides (Bennett, 1832)
Family: Labridae
Group: Bony fish
Class: Fish

Size: 11-25 cm.

This wrasse lives in exposed areas of coral reefs, usually on the periphery up to about 60 m deep. Like most species in this family, it is inactive at night. The adults take advantage of the daylight to search for bottom-dwelling invertebrates, which they crush with their strong teeth. The juveniles have the habit of cleaning other larger fish, feeding on their external parasites.
