Size: 26-50 cm.
The hottentot seabream has a dark bluish-grey body, black fins and a small mouth. It lives on rocky bottoms, in shallow waters. It is often observed in small shoals in kelp forests. This fish reaches sexual maturity when it measures 20 cm and can live to be 12 years old! It breeds throughout the year but with greater intensity in spring and summer.
