Name: White seabream
Scientific Name: Diplodus sargus sargus (Linnaeus, 1758)
Family: Sparidae
Group: Bony fish
Class: Fish
Size: 26-50 cm.
The white seabream is a typically coastal species that does not venture to depths greater than 50 m. At night, we can find it feeding in the splash zone. It is here, among the rocks and algae that it searches for small invertebrates, such as urchins and bivalves. It is an hermaphrodite species whose males can change into females when the number of females is too low. This strategy allows it to ensure an adequate proportion of both sexes, contributing to the reproductive success of the species.
