The annular seabream is a typical littoral species, mainly found in marine plant beds. The juveniles live in groups, unlike the adults that are observed in pairs. Their diet consists of crustaceans, molluscs, echinoderms, and hydrozoa, which live on the bottom. This species is hermaphrodite, with some male individuals being able to change into females.
