Name: Cuckoo wrasse
Scientific Name: Labrus bimaculatus (Linnaeus, 1758)
Family: Labridae
Group: Bony fish
Class: Fish
Size: 26-50 cm.
The cuckoo wrasse is an inshore species. The males live in deeper areas than the females and the juveniles. These are closer to the surface, but always in poorly lit areas, such as holes and caves. The male builds a nest of algae or digs out a hole, where the female lays the eggs. Afterwards, it protects its descendants with its life!
