Name: Remora
Scientific Name: Remora remora Linnaeus, 1758
Family: Echeneidae
Group: Bony fish
Class: Fish
Size: 51-100 cm.

As remoras develop, their first dorsal fin transforms into a suction disk. This disk latches on to other larger fish, turtles or even ships. This allows the remora to save a substantial amount of energy while, at the same time, to feed on parasite copepods dwelling on its host's skin. Occasionally they may swim freely.
