The giant guitarfish is a ray of coastal tropical waters, which also penetrates estuaries. It is easy to observe this ray in its natural environment, as it is a curious animal by nature, often approaching divers to apparently ‘inspect' them. An individual giant guitarfish can weigh as much as 200 kg and the flesh of this ray is much appreciated in Asian countries, with its fins attracting truly exorbitant prices.
