Name: Grape coral
Scientific Name: Euphyllia divisa Veron & Pichon, 1980
Family: Euphyliidae
Group: Anemones, corals and jellyfish
Class: Invertebrates

Size: 51-100 cm.

The tentacles of this coral species have split ends with a round finish. To the untrained eye, these ends will strongly resemble grapes. Experts in this field, however, have long learned to recognize this species from the distance, while quickly identifying their toad egg shaped polyps. It is an aggressive species, with highly poisonous cells, which dart at any attacking or menacing organism. In those areas tat are shallower and not as exposed to the powerful action of waves, it will quickly grow to be the dominant species.
