Name: Ridged brain coral
Scientific Name: Oulophyllia crispa (Lamarck, 1816)
Family: Faviidae
Group: Anemones, corals and jellyfish
Class: Invertebrates
Size: 51-100 cm.
Just like the name says, this coral looks like a brain. A very distinctive ridge divides the ‘brain' in two hemispheres, although the crests in this species are not as profound nor deep as in other brain-coral species. It is not a particularly common coral and is found scarcely around reef lagoons.
