Name: Giant Anthelia
Scientific Name: Anthelia glauca
Family: Xenidae
Group: Anemones, corals and jellyfish
Class: Invertebrates
Size: 11-25 cm.
This coral has long plumose tentacles, usually a bluish white. They spend most of their day contracting their polyps in a rhythmic fashion, both feeding and allowing for gas exchange in their tissues. These are very common in shallow and well light areas of the reef. It is a soft coral because it has no internal hard skeleton.
