Pacman frog

Biology

The most outstanding feature of this species is its large mouth, which is roughly half of its overall size. It is a sit-and-wait predator, which consumes mostly vertebrates (other frogs, birds, small rodents and snakes). It hibernates during autumn and winter, creating a cocoon around itself to protect from dehydration.

Conservation

The main threats are habitat loss due to agricultural and urban pressure and water and soil pollution.

Curiosities

This animal is such a voracious eater, that it will even try to swallow a prey so big it will suffocate in the process.
