Red-eyed tree frog

The red-eye tree frog is one of the most striking frogs due to its green body with yellow and blue stripes on the flanks, red and yellow inner side of its legs and big red eyes. This species, which lives on the forest canopy, has three eyelids and sticky pads on its toes.

Conservation

Habitat loss by destruction of natural forests and pet trade.

Curiosities

The scientific name of red-eyed tree frog, Agalychnis callidryas, comes from the Greek words “kallos” - beautiful and “dryas” - tree nymph.
