Zebra seabream

Biology

The zebra seabream forms groups of four or five individuals, of different sizes, that feed on algae and small invertebrates found on the bottom of the sea. Inhabits rocky bottoms of the shore, but may venture up to 300 metres in depth.

Conservation

Even though it is listed as Least Concerned, the exploitation of this species along the Canary Islands is alarming. In this area, the populations of zebra seabream have been suffering a huge decrease.

Curiosities

The zebra colour pattern of this fish distinguishes it from the other seabream species.
