Dwarf umbrella tree

Biology

Dwarf umbrella trees are fast-growing evergreen shrubs, easily reaching three to five metres in height. In the wild, they may grow as an epiphyte which means that they take advantage of other trees for support. It has attractive dark green, glossy leaves densely covering flexible stems. The leaves may fan out into a rounded crown making a green mass which does not change during the year, except in winter when the orange-yellow fruits appear.
