"Building resilience into systems", with Prisca Weems

Human Habitat Lecture, 6th October, 18h30

Prisca Weems is the guest speaker for the next Human Habitat Lecture. Prisca will begin by presenting how an evidence-based approach to resilience that focuses on knowledge creation and sharing is changing the nature of climate adaptation conversations in US cities, with a focus on New York City and Louisiana.

As Founder and Principal of FutureProof, Prisca Weems supports the design and development of projects with aggressive resilience and sustainability goals, and provides strategy and oversight in the design and execution of community and regional-scale initiatives. Working with the public, private, and non-profit sectors, she has most recently been focused on system-scale strategies and policy development for increasing the resilience of communities by introducing complimentary green infrastructure and renewable energy projects to enhance the performance of existing systems.

In this conference, Prisca wants to go deeper in the sharing and development of contents on the topic of urban resilience and complex infrastructure systems. She aims to engage participants in the exploration of a more resilient future resulting in recommendations for Lisbon.

A short presentation of the guest speaker will precede looking into the future to co-create a common vision for a resilient city, with a focus on community lead, complex systems.
