Blue green damselfish

Biology

The adult blue green damselfish inhabits reefs ranging from 10 to 12 metres in depth. It prefers to swim in large schools amongst branching corals of the genus Acropora. However, each juvenile is closely tied to individual coral heads. During the breeding season, the male prepares the nest, into which multiple females lay eggs. The eggs hatch after two or three days and it is the male who aerates them with its caudal fin.

Curiosities

At the end of the breeding season, the male feeds on the eggs that did not hatch.
