Copper rockfish

Biology

This rockfish can display colours as varied as red, cream, brown and pink. However, regardless of the colour of their body, all copper rockfish have several copper or red stripes on their back, and a white abdomen. They also have venomous spines on their fins. The copper rockfish lives in coastal waters at depths up to 180 meters, but is more common in shallow and protected inlets. During the day, it remains immobile among rocks or kelp beds and becomes more active at night to feed.

Curiosities

The rockfish is an extremely resistant fish, being able to survive several hours out of the water.
