Crevalle jack

Biology

The crevalle jack usually lives in coastal waters, above the continental shelf. It usually forms shoals that move with great speed, although some adults may be solitary. Like other caranx species, it feeds on small fish, shrimp and invertebrates. Its silvery colour reflects the light, allowing it to blend in with its surrounding environment.

Curiosities

The crevalle jack makes unusual grunt-like sounds.
