European seabass
Biology
The European seabass inhabits coastal waters but it can occupy estuaries, lagoons and even rivers to feed, during the summer. It is a voracious predator, which feeds on crustaceans, molluscs and other fish. It can live up to 30 years.
Curiosities
The European seabass is a solitary fish, but when it is defending its territory, it gathers in large schools to back turn away intruders. Juveniles in particular are seen swimming along with other species.
