Foxface rabbitfish

Biology

The foxface rabbitfish exhibits a very unique colour pattern: it is yellow except for the head which is black and white. It is capable of inflicting painful stings because of the venomous spines it has on its pectoral, dorsal and anal fins. It lives in coral-rich areas of lagoon and reefs, and feeds on algae that it removes from the coral.

Curiosities

Even though adults are found in pairs, juveniles form large schools around coral Acropora.
