Golden jack

Biology

The golden jack is a tropical fish that usually lives in sandy bottoms, lagoons and reefs up to 80 metres depth, distinguished from other jack species by its striking colouration. Adults form schools which closely swim near sharks and other large fishes. These fish forage in the sand for small crustaceans and other invertebrates, and also feed on small fishes.

Curiosities

Juvenile golden jacks live among the tentacles of jellyfish, where they seek for protection against predators.
