Leafy seadragon
Biology
This spectacular fish gliding gracefully through shallow waters, next to banks of algae, such as Kelp and seagrass. This species resembles a seaweed due to the numerous, branched, leaf-shaped appendages that it has along its body.
Conservation
These extremely beautiful animals are quite delicate and are exposed to excessive pollution and capture. For this reason they are protected by law.
Curiosities
The leafy seadragon is a master of camouflage, which allow it hunting by ambush. It stays still until a prey passes nearby, and suddenly, with a quick movement of the head, suck it out from the water column.
