Painted greenling

Biology

The painted greenling, which grows up to 25 centimetres long, has an elongated body with a pointed snout, and seven vertical dark or red bands against a whitish body. It can be found alone or in pairs, on rocky areas shallower than 50 metres. It feeds on small crustaceans and molluscs.

Curiosities

During the night, it seeks protection among the tentacles of sea anemones.
