Fuzzy arrow crab

Biology

The fuzzy arrow crab, also known as spider crab, due to its extremely long thin legs and rather small body. It moves very slowly, in an odd way. It has fuzzy tufts coming from its body which allows it to camouflage itself in seaweed. It hides in rock crevices, coral reefs and among algae, where it feeds on small crustaceans.

Curiosities

When disturbed, this small crab can hide itself in the long spines of a sea urchin, or between the tentacles of anemones, using them as a protection.
