Parlour Palm

Biology

This is a small palm tree that does not grow more than three metres in height. The leaves are composed of leaflets whose green colour varies in intensity. The flowers are very small, yellow, and give origin to a globose fruit, equally small, that becomes darker by the time it matures. The parlour palm is a dioecious plant, which means male flowers are in different and separate plants from female flowers.

Curiosities

The parlour palm has been popular since Victorian times due to its adaptability to low light and humidity levels.
