Most Remarkable Venue in Portugal awarded to the Oceanário de Lisboa
The Remarkable Venue Awards 2022 have been awarded and the Oceanário de Lisboa has been voted the most remarkable venue in Portugal
Tiqets announced on Tuesday the national winners of the Remarkable Venue Awards 2022 and the Oceanário de Lisboa stood out with the award for Most Remarkable Venue in Portugal.
The Remarkable Venue Awards reward the best museums and tourist attractions in nine countries: France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Netherlands, UAE, UK and USA. Once the national winners have been announced, the Remarkable Venue Awards worldwide awards will follow: each awarded attraction will compete for the prize at a global level, in its respective category, through a consumer vote, which will run until 19 October.
João Falcato, Oceanário's CEO, stated that this recognition "fills us all with pride, but also with a great sense of gratitude, to the visitors, who valued our work, mission and, of course, the unique experience lived, and to each employee, for the daily delivery in the care of our animals, in the friendliness of the welcome and in the search to do better and different, for education and conservation of the Ocean". The recognition of the visitors is very important, because by visiting, they contribute to the Oceanário to further the protection and increase of knowledge about species and marine ecosystems, through research and the funding of conservation projects and educational programmes with visitors, schools and communities, raising awareness for changing behaviours towards a more sustainable society.
The Oceanário de Lisboa is a unique place, cherished by the Portuguese and internationally recognised three times as "the best aquarium in the world". From the underwater journey with over 500 different species, to the discovery of "One Planet, One Ocean", the visit extends to the two temporary exhibitions, "Submerged Forests by Takashi Amano", the largest "nature aquarium" in the world, and "ONE - The Sea as you've never felt it", which presents a deep connection between Man and the sea through an immersive experience by the Portuguese sea.
To help the Oceanário bring this award to Portugal, the aquarium challenges all its visitors to vote, online on the Tiqets website. By voting, you are also eligible to win tickets to museums and attractions for a year for two people. The international winners will be announced on 2 November.
