Oceanário de Lisboa voted best aquarium in the world

Oceanário de Lisboa was recognized as the best aquarium in the world by TripAdvisor Traveler's Choice. The site for travel and tourism presented the 2015 Top 25 best aquariums, considering the choices and opinions of its users.

Last year, the Oceanário received tourists from over 180 nationalities, who shared their experiences on TripAdvisor. Of the 10,835 ratings available in the portal, 7,153 are classified as "excellent" which scored the equipment as the first of 444 attractions in Lisbon.

"Forests Underwater by the Japanese Takashi Amano was the best thing I've seen in recent times. Absolutely fantastic", "Wonderful for children and adults", "Awesome!", "The marine life in all its splendor!" and "must see place" are some of the comments that can be read on TripAdvisor about the Oceanário de Lisboa.

"We are honored to receive this recognition by our visitors, Portuguese and foreign. We feel that our mission of promoting blue literacy and of raising awareness for ocean conservation, crossed the oceans, being recognized worldwide" says João Falcato, Oceanário's CEO.

The aquarium has been, over the years, presenting new and innovative experiences, as the latest temporary exhibition "Forests Underwater by Takashi Amano". Unique in the world, the exhibition that opened three months ago, already received 200,000 visitors and is referred as a "wonderful" experience by TripAdvisor users.

With more than 19 million visitors over 17 years of existence, the Oceanário is one of the most visited cultural venues in Portugal.
